Kristina Matousch

Kristina Matouschs' (b. 1974, Kalmar) art is powerful; the object's high-gloss finish, coupled with profound content including the embarrassing, disgusting, desirable and aggressive, have the ability to occupy and change rooms and those inhabiting them. Matousch is also interested in performance art, sometimes interacting with an audience, but also the opposite: hiding behind a screen or standing on top of a structure hidden from view, as in the work Still Life Production from 2013, or involving someone else to perform. She also works with large scale public commissions, for example at the Nya Karolinska hospital in Stockholm where her work Wash up! Stream was inaugurated in 2017. Matousch graduated from the Royal College of Arts in Stockholm in 2000.
